What’s included
- Cutting down and clearing overgrown grass and weeds
- Trimming back overgrown low shrubs and small tree growth
- Weeding and cleaning out garden beds
- Raking and removing leaves, sticks and yard debris
- Edging along walks and driveways where it’s grown over
- Blowing off the driveway, walkways and patio before we leave
- Hauling. All of it goes on the truck. No bags left at the curb, no pile behind the shed
What’s not included
A clean-up handles overgrowth. It doesn’t cover:
- Large hedges or real tree work. That’s hedge and tree trimming, quoted separately.
- Furniture, appliances, construction leftovers, a shed full of stuff. That’s junk removal, priced the same way as clean-up: starting at $450, full day $1,500 plus dump fees.
We’ll tell you which bucket your job falls into before we book it, not after.
Yard clean-up prices
Yard clean-up: starts at $450, plus HST. That covers a typical property. Larger jobs are quoted, but you still put down the $450 deposit up front and the job gets adjusted to its real size once we’ve seen it.
Full day of work: $1,500, plus dump fees, plus HST. For a property that genuinely needs a full crew day, this is a flat day rate rather than an open-ended hourly bill. Dump fees are billed at cost from the scale ticket.
Both prices reflect a working rate of roughly $190 an hour once extra manpower and equipment are factored in. Every other price we charge is on the pricing page.
What you can count on
- 4.9 stars from 111 Google reviews.
- Cancel any time with 14 days’ notice.
- The deposit goes toward the job, not on top of it. A large job’s $450 deposit is applied to the final adjusted price, not charged in addition to it.
The best fresh start before a mowing plan
A yard clean-up is the fresh start an overgrown lawn needs before regular mowing can keep up with it. A clean-up gets the property back to a level playing field, and a regular cut keeps it there for the rest of the season. Skipping the clean-up and going straight to weekly mowing doesn’t work on an overgrown lot: grass that tall gets cut in stages, the clippings mat and smother what’s underneath, and the first few mows end up costing more anyway.
Lawn mowing starts at $49.99 per visit for a compact lawn, plus HST. Once the yard’s clean and the grass is on a schedule, core aeration and organic fertilizer are the two jobs that actually thicken a KW lawn afterward.
Plan customers get a fall clean-up included
If you’re on a Summer Complete or Premium plan, a fall clean-up is already part of your season: $100 for a Small lawn, $150 Medium, $200 Large, built into the plan price rather than billed separately. That’s a smaller, lawn-focused clean-up sized to a well-maintained property already on a mowing schedule, not the full overgrown-lot job this page describes. If your yard needs the bigger job first, book a stand-alone clean-up here, then move onto a summer plan once it’s under control.
Fall leaf clean-up, sold on its own
Not every yard needs the full job above. If the lawn, beds and edges are already in decent shape and the only problem is leaves, we also sell a smaller, stand-alone fall leaf clean-up: leaves raked and blown off the lawn and out of the beds, then bagged or hauled away, in one visit. It’s a different product from the $450 yard clean-up on this page, sized to a property that’s already kept up rather than an overgrown lot.
Fall leaf clean-up is priced by the bag, plus HST.
Call or text 226-336-2077 for the rate per bag.
See our dedicated fall leaf clean-up page for the full details.
Why pay when the city picks up leaves for free?
Kitchener runs free leaf drop-off sites and a curbside collection window each fall, and Waterloo’s free program only picks up from boulevard trees, not the rest of the yard, both on the city’s own schedule and loose leaves only. A paid visit works on your schedule instead, covers the whole lawn and beds, not just the boulevard, and clears the property in one trip rather than waiting on a collection week. That’s why people still book it: it does more than the free program was ever built to do, on the day that suits you, not the city’s.
When to book in Kitchener-Waterloo
Spring: once the ground has dried enough to walk on without tearing it up, typically late April into May. Going too early on soft Ontario ground does more damage than waiting two weeks.
Fall: the trick is timing the leaf drop. We aim for after the big drop but before the first real snow. Southern Ontario’s first snow commonly arrives in November, and our mowing season itself runs through November 1, so a fall clean-up booked in that window lines up naturally with the end of the mowing season and the start of winter service.
If you want the yard clean before winter and the driveway handled after it, our winter plans start November 1.
Frequently asked questions
How is the $450 starting price decided? By property size and how much overgrowth, bed and border there is to clear. Larger properties are quoted after we’ve seen the job, with the $450 deposit applied toward that final number, not on top of it.
Do I have to be home? No. We need access to the yard and somewhere to park the truck. Most clean-ups happen while people are at work.
How long does a clean-up take? Most finish in one visit. A badly overgrown property can run a full day at the $1,500 day rate plus dump fees, agreed with you before we start.
Will one clean-up fix a lawn that’s been left for years? It fixes the look of it right away. Fixing the grass itself takes aeration, overseeding and a season of regular mowing after.
Can you also take away old furniture or junk while you’re there? That’s a separate job, junk removal, priced the same way: starting at $450, full day $1,500 plus dump fees. We’ll quote both together if your property needs both.
Pairs well with
A clean-up is the natural first step before lawn mowing, core aeration or a fresh mulch installation on the beds it just cleared out.
