Snow removal in Waterloo, windrow included.

In Waterloo, the ridge the plow leaves across your driveway is yours to clear, and the sidewalk out front has 24 hours and a fine attached. Every time 5 cm falls, we take both off your list, along with the driveway and front path.

The windrow, left by the plow

Cleared, every visit

In Waterloo, clearing the windrow is the owner’s job.

The windrow is yours. Unless it’s ours.

When plows clear the road, snow may be pushed across driveway ends. The city says clearing that windrow is the property owner’s job, because its crews have to focus on opening roads for everyone.

It’s the heaviest snow of the storm: packed by the blade, often with slush and ice in it, and it lands right where you need to drive out. Waterloo’s snow bylaw says no one may put snow or ice on the road, so it can’t go back in the street.

On our route, it’s part of every visit, with the driveway, the front path and the city sidewalk. Per visit or Winter Plan, no add-on.

24 h: your sidewalk deadline in Kitchener and Waterloo

Our times are usual clearing windows, counted from when the snow stops, the same way the city counts.

How Waterloo clears its roads.

  1. Main roads and bus routes first, for emergency access. Then the residential streets.
  2. Up to 24 hours for every street, counted from when the snow or ice stops. If more snow starts in the same storm, the clock starts again.
  3. Still not plowed after 24 hours? You can report it to the city. How to report it
  4. Big storms take longer. A significant weather event is declared for 20 cm or more of snow in 24 hours or 20 mm or more of ice. Clearing can take longer then.

Snow events and overnight parking.

In Waterloo a car parks on the street overnight only if it’s registered, up to 15 nights a year. During a snow event, a registration doesn’t count.

None of it changes your clearing: we clear the driveway, not the street, and you don’t need to move a car for a visit. It does decide where a second car spends a storm night.

2:30–6 a.m.

Unless the car is registered

No overnight street parking from 2:30 to 6 a.m. unless you register in advance. You can register up to 15 times a year. The ticket is $42.

Snow event

Usually about 24 hours

When heavy snow or ice is expected, the city declares a snow event. You can’t park on any city street or lot, even if you registered, and cars may be ticketed or towed. Most snow events last about 24 hours, longer if the snow or ice keeps coming.

Waterloo questions.

City rules here were checked on waterloo.ca on 9 October 2026. If something’s changed since, tell us and we’ll fix the page.

Questions to ask any snow contractor
Do I have to clear the windrow myself in Waterloo?

The city says the windrow is the property owner’s job. If you’re on our route, it’s done for you: every visit clears the windrow along with the driveway, path and sidewalk.

Am I still responsible for my sidewalk if I hire you?

The bylaw responsibility stays with the property owner in Waterloo, but every visit clears the city sidewalk out front, so that box is checked either way.

Is the city’s assisted clearing program the same as your service?

No. The city’s Assisted Snow Clearing Program is free for residents who qualify. We’re a separate, paid crew. If you think you qualify, apply with the city directly.

I live on a corner lot. Is the side sidewalk included?

The sidewalk across the front of your home is included. The side-street run is an add-on at $105 a season or $7 a visit per started 10 m, plus HST.

Do you cover my part of Waterloo?

All of Waterloo, Ontario, from Uptown to Laurelwood and Clair Hills to Eastbridge. See the service area.

Book snow clearing

  1. Step 1 of 6: Where do we clear?

We clear driveways in Kitchener and Waterloo, out to Mannheim. Find your address to check you’re on the route.

Start with the house number, then pick your address from the list.

  2. Step 2 of 6: How big is your driveway?

Count how many cars fit on your driveway, side by side and nose to tail. Each car is about 154 sq ft.

    2 carabout 308 sq ft

Bigger than 10 cars? Call or text, or send a message, and we’ll quote it.

  3. Step 3 of 6: Pick your plan

Every plan clears your driveway, front path, city sidewalk and the plow windrow at 5 cm, November 1 to April 15.

5 equal payments, the first today. They stop by themselves.

  4. Step 4 of 6: Anything extra?

A side or back path to another door?

Cleared every visit along with the rest. Priced for the season, plus HST.

Is your home on a corner lot?

The sidewalk across the front of your home is always included. A corner lot also has a sidewalk down the side street: that one is $105.00 a season, or $7.00 a clearing, per started 10 m. No charge if there’s no side-street sidewalk or the City clears it.

  5. Step 5 of 6: Your details

    For clearing-day questions

    Your receipt goes here

Cancel any time, with 14 days’ notice. You only pay for clearings completed, and a prepaid season is refunded for the unused portion. Ontario also gives you a 10-day cooling-off period on a plan sign-up.
