Snow removal

The 5 cm trigger, what a clearing covers, salt and storms.

What’s the 5 cm rule?

Once a snowfall leaves 5 cm or more on the ground, your driveway goes on the route automatically. No call needed. Why 5 cm, and not 2 or 10.

What if it only snows 4 cm?

We don’t come, and per-visit customers aren’t charged. Below 5 cm we leave it. A Winter Plan includes ice control on those light, borderline days, which is usually the part that actually matters underfoot.

What’s included in a snow clearing?

Every visit, per visit or Winter Plan, clears your driveway edge to edge, the front path to your door, the city sidewalk across the front of your home and the windrow the plow leaves at the end of your driveway, with standard rock salt on the driveway. What every visit clears.

Am I still responsible for clearing my own sidewalk if I hire you?

The bylaw responsibility sits with the property owner in both Kitchener and Waterloo, but every visit clears the city sidewalk out front, so that box is checked either way. Both cities give you 24 hours after a snowfall; see Kitchener’s rule and Waterloo’s rule.

How much does snow removal cost?

Per visit runs $53.99 to $237.99 by driveway size, 1 to 10 cars, plus HST. A Winter Plan for the whole season starts at $769.36 on Standard, $1,093.35 on Complete and $1,376.86 on Priority, plus HST. Every size on the pricing page.

Do I have to call you when it snows, or be home?

No. Once you’re on the route, the snowfall triggers the visit, not a phone call, and you don’t need to be home.

What happens if a storm runs all night?

The clock starts once the snow actually stops. A storm that stacks on a storm can push the route; our weather-delay terms are on the policies page.

Is pet-safe salt actually eco-friendly?

No, and we won’t tell you it is. The Region of Waterloo says environmentally friendly ice melters still contain salt. Our pet-safe option is gentler on paws, concrete and garden beds, and we use only what’s needed either way. Rock, treated or pet-safe salt.

Mowing and lawn care

Prices, wet days, fertilizer and aeration.

How much does lawn mowing cost in Kitchener-Waterloo?

Weekly mowing starts at $49.99 a visit plus HST for a lawn under 2,000 sq ft. Bigger lawns, and every-2-weeks or one-off visits, are priced by size on our pricing page.

Do I have to mow weekly in spring?

No. Every-2-weeks mowing is available all season, spring included. Pick weekly or every 2 weeks on lawn mowing and change your mind later if your lawn’s growth changes.

Will you mow a wet lawn?

No. Wet grass tears instead of cutting and the mower leaves ruts, so a rain day moves to the next dry day on our route. We can’t promise a time either way, because rain days and reschedules change the route.

Is your fertilizer safe for kids and pets?

Yes. Our organic fertilizer is compost tea and worm castings, never a synthetic spray, and it’s safe for kids and pets. It starts at $150 an application, plus HST. More on organic fertilizer.

Does my lawn need aeration?

If your grass thins out every summer, water sits on the surface after rain, or the ground feels hard underfoot, compacted soil is usually the reason. That’s what core aeration fixes.

When’s the best time to aerate a lawn in Ontario?

Honestly, turf science favours fall for cool-season lawns like ours. We offer it in spring, as a single service, at $275, $399 or $549 depending on lawn size, plus HST. It’s a real, effective service in spring; we just won’t call it the best time of year to do it.

Other services

Clean-ups, junk, mulch, hedges and trees.

What’s included in a yard clean-up?

Trimming, weed and debris removal, and hauling it away, in one flat price by property size. It starts at $450 plus HST, and bigger jobs are quoted. Details on yard clean-up.

How much does junk removal cost?

It starts at $450 plus HST, the same way as a yard clean-up. Items like appliances, mattresses, tires and electronics are priced separately. See junk removal.

What mulch colours do you offer, and what does it cost?

Natural, cedar, brown, black, red and hemlock, priced per yard installed, plus a delivery charge per order. The smallest job is $419 plus HST, delivery included. See mulch installation.

Do you trim hedges and trees?

Yes, but it’s quoted to the job rather than sold online, since every hedge and tree is a different size and shape. See hedge and tree trimming.

Prices and billing

Quotes, HST, plans against per visit, and paying monthly.

How do I get a quote?

Most prices are already on the site: pick your size on get a price and you’ll see the total, HST on its own line. Or call or text 226-336-2077, or send your address through the contact page. A quote is free.

Is HST included in your prices?

No. Every price on our site is before HST. HST at 13% is added and shown as its own line, so you can see exactly what’s tax and what’s us.

What’s the difference between paying per visit and a plan?

Per visit, you pay only for what happens, with no commitment. A plan prices the whole season up front for less per visit, and the higher tiers add more; on a Winter Plan that’s your choice of salt and faster clearing. A winter season starts at $769.36, summer plans at $47.49 a visit and year-round plans at $132.99 a month. See plans.

Can I pay for a Winter Plan monthly?

Yes. Season plans can be split into equal monthly payments, the first when you sign up and the last by the end of March. Sign up from April to November for 5 payments, in December for 4, in January for 3, in February for 2. From March, season plans are pay once. Each payment shows its HST on its own line.

Booking and policies

Areas, hours, cancelling, and what happens on your day.

What areas do you serve?

Kitchener and Waterloo, with Mannheim at the edge. We don’t serve Cambridge. Check your street on our service area page.

What are your hours?

Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Snow clearing runs whenever the snow falls.

What’s your cancellation policy?

Cancel any time with 14 days’ notice. You only pay for visits completed, and a prepaid season is refunded for the unused portion. Full wording is on our refund and cancellation policy.

Do I need to be home for a visit?

No. We need gate access and the dog inside. For snow, you don’t need to move your car either, though it’s easier for both of us if the driveway is clear.

What happens if it rains or snows on my scheduled day?

For mowing, a rain day moves to the next dry day on our route; we never cut a soaked lawn just to hit a schedule. We come on your booked day, but we can’t promise a time, because rain days and reschedules change the route. For snow, there’s no schedule to begin with: the snowfall itself triggers the visit. More on how it works.
