Doon and Doon South back onto the Homer Watson Park woodlot and the Grand River slope, and a lot of those beds sit on a real grade, so a shredded bark that knits together holds up better than loose chips after a summer storm. Huron Park’s newer beds are narrow foundation strips over compacted clay. Stanley Park and Rosemount’s older lots, under mature maples with surface roots, are where we most often find mulch piled against tree trunks from past top-ups; we pull that back and leave the trunk flare showing.
