Back March 15.

We’re on snow until then. Ask now and we’ll have your spot ready.

Kitchener’s newer south end, Huron Park and Doon South, thins from compaction under a shallow layer of builder soil, so the bare spots usually show first along the driveway edge and the sunny front slope. The older west and east ends, Alpine, Forest Heights, Stanley Park and Rosemount, thin from decades of mower traffic under a mature maple canopy, so a shade-tolerant approach matters more than raw seed volume. Either way, seed dropped onto hard, thin ground mostly bounces or dries out, which is why we pair overseeding with aeration whenever we can.

New seed also needs more frequent watering than the Region of Waterloo’s summer bylaw normally allows, once a week on an address-based day. A temporary permit is available for newly seeded lawns, and we’ll flag it if your booking falls inside that window.

Kitchener FAQ

My Doon South sod is only a few years old. Too soon to overseed? No. Builder sod usually thins first. The only lawn we’d leave alone is sod laid this season.

Does the Region’s watering rule get in the way of new seed? It can. Watering is normally once a week through summer, but a temporary permit is available for newly seeded lawns, since new seed needs more frequent watering to establish.

Do you cover my part of Kitchener? All of Kitchener and Waterloo, with Mannheim at the edge. No Cambridge. See the service area page.
